Assemble the Clown Drop in Baldur’s Gate 3 (where to find all the parts)

Baldur’s Gate 3

At the Beginning of Act 3

When our heroes finally enter the city of Baldur’s Gate, they can visit the mysterious “Circus of the End of Days”. The jewel of the establishment is the clown Kaplya. However, it will turn out that the performer is not who they claim to be.

How to Start the Quest

Starting the quest to find the pieces of the clown in Baldur’s Gate 3 and ultimately receive valuable rewards is not straightforward.

First, you need to participate as an assistant for the clown Kaplya’s trick, located in the northeastern part of the circus. But instead of a fun performance, the artist will send greetings from the Absolute and attack you.

During the fight, it will become clear that this is a doppelganger (shape-shifter), who only took on the clown’s appearance. If we talk to the dead using the “Speak with Dead” spell, we will find out that the real Kaplya was killed.

Next, you should talk to the circus leader — Madame Lucretia, who will be waiting for you on the way back. If you tell her what you learned from the shape-shifter, she will ask you to find the clown’s corpse.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, you will have to collect the clown Kaplya piece by piece; there are 7 pieces in total.

Where to Find All the Pieces

If you are carefully playing the game, there is no need to rush around the locations, as most places will be led by one quest or another.

But if you’ve already opened everything and are still missing parts of Kaplya, here are detailed descriptions of where to find them.

  • Hand (Palm)

You don’t have to go far from the start of the quest, as the first piece of the clown Kaplya lies on a table next to the merchant Popper in the circus.

There are a few ways to obtain it:

    • Steal it in sneak mode — just make sure you are not seen. The best character for this is the companion Astarion. If he isn’t in your party, enter turn-based mode, crouch, and steal the hand from the table while Popper is not looking.
    • Pass a Persuasion/Deception/Intimidation check — simply take the hand from the table, which will automatically start a dialogue with Popper. At some point, you’ll need to pass either a Deception, Persuasion, or Intimidation check (DC 15).
  • Second Hand

The second hand is located in the Grushka’s house.

Head east from the “Magical Supplies” shop and look for a house with a wooden barricade caught between two staircases. You can also quickly reach the place from the “Dump Shore” teleporter. Break the barricade with an appropriate spell or weapon.

The main secret of the house is the hatch hidden under a road chest. Move it aside to gain access to the descent.

You can either pick the lock on the hatch or take the key from the distant bookshelf standing right there.

In the basement, find the body of Brave Kimbabet, who will have another hand.

  • Body

The clown’s body is under the Open Hand Temple. In this area, you’ll have a quest to “Uncover the Murders in the Open Hand Temple”, but you don’t need to take it to get into the cave.

The easiest way to get into the cave is through the hatch in the temple kitchen.

After descending, follow the blood trail to the large hall. Enter the door on the right, where a huge stone cabinet stands. Move the lamp aside and jump onto the ledge in the crevice. Another jump will get you into the cave itself.

As you go further, you will encounter a group of doppelgangers. Deal with the trio and then inspect the corpse of Penela the Destitute lying nearby. On her, you will find another piece.

  • Pelvis

The pelvis is inside a house in the Lower City. Head north from the Basilisk Gate teleporter along the street.

At the end of the street, you will see a blue door that you need to open either by picking the lock or breaking it down.

Inside, you’ll find Goomberry Trespa lying spread out on the floor, with the clown’s pelvis on him.

  • Leg

One of the clown Kaplya’s legs is in the house of Lavrenika in the Lower City.

Head west from the “Magical Supplies” shop. You can also quickly teleport to the Central Wall of the Lower City waypoint and, again, go west towards the local park.

Break or pick the entrance door lock. Inside the room will be a dead body and many dead spiders.

Search the buffet next to the bed. Inside, you will find the gardener’s hatch key. Unlike Grushka’s house, the hatch is not covered, so finding its location will be quite simple.

Open the hatch with the key you found and go down into the cave.

If you go a little further, you will find a white ritual circle, at the center of which lies the corpse of Figgin “Sassanka”. On her, you will find the severed leg.

  • The foot is in Selva’s house, located next to the “Goods at the Bee” shop in the Lower City.

Pick the lock or break the door open. On the ground floor, opposite the main entrance, under the stairs, there is a hatch that you need to use.

Be careful, because upon descending, there will be a tripwire on the floor that is best disabled.

In the first room on the right side of the altar, you will find the lifeless body of Winslow Reginal. Search it to find the foot.

  • Finding the clown Kaplya’s head is more complicated than with other parts, as it needs to be found in the Undercity Ruins.

Access to this area is only available via a quest.

First, as part of the “Investigate Murders” quest, you will need to find the entrance to the crypt of the followers of Bhaal and somehow impress the Murder Tribunal. Only after that will you be able to enter the Undercity Ruins, the entrance to which is located in the northern part of the sewers.

Once in the ruins, move to the northwestern part of the location to the altar area with a pile of bodies. Be careful, as there are traps under them. The clown’s head can be found on the corpse of Withering Alex.

Reward

After finding all the parts of the clown Kaplya, you will immediately receive the inspiration “Grim Mystery”, along with 220 experience points. After completing the quest, Shadowheart will also gain inspiration if she is in the party.

Now, return to Madame Lucretia to claim your reward for your efforts. This will be the very rare “Gloves of Spellpower”.

Additionally, Lucretia will explain what she plans to do with the remains.

She intends to resurrect the clown Kaplya, who will continue to work for her even after death.
