Kaga in Baldur’s Gate 3: How to Kill or Expose

Baldur’s Gate 3

In Baldur’s Gate 3, Kagha has taken the helm of the druid circle during Halsin’s absence. She behaves extremely harshly towards the tieflings and wants to expel them.

How to Expose Her

When we first meet Kagha in the inner part of the Emerald Grove, she is about to sic a poisonous snake on a girl named Arabella for attempting to steal the sacred idol of Silvanus.

  • You can save the girl by trying to persuade the Archdruid of the Emerald Grove or let the snake bite her with fatal consequences.

After the incident, talk to Kagha and ask about the thorn ritual they want to conduct.

The Archdruid wants all the tieflings to leave the grove and will send you to talk to Zevlor about it.

But there is another option: search for incriminating evidence to expose Kagha later. This will require visiting several well-hidden places.

Chest in the Emerald Grove

Start exposing Kagha by finding her secret chest. To locate it, search the “Servant’s Quarters” room, which is located to the left of the central area where you talked to the Archdruid earlier.

Kagha’s chest is hidden in the far left part of the room behind a shelf with stone tablets. There is a barely noticeable passage to the niche on the right.

  • It is easiest to unlock the chest using thief tools (difficulty 10), but Kagha herself has the key, although stealing it will be very difficult.
  • In the chest, you will find a torn note that indicates a secret meeting took place in the swamps.

Letter from the Swamps

Continue gathering information on Kagha. If you are following the “Save Mayrina” quest in Auntie Ethel’s tea house, you will eventually find yourself in the right place.

Here, go to the dilapidated hideout hidden deep in the swamps, which is a large stump surrounded by stone slabs with runes. The location is in the southeastern part of the swamps.

Once you get close enough, a fight with mud mephits and voids will start. Be cautious, as the mephits explode upon death.

After dealing with the defenders of the place, go directly to the felled tree. On the left side next to the vines, you will need to pass a perception check to see the hollow hiding place.

Open it and find the “Letter to Kagha”. Be sure to read it before confronting Kagha in the Emerald Grove, as otherwise, the necessary dialogue options will not appear.

The Fate of Kagha

Both findings reveal that the current Archdruid is part of the “Shadow Druids” sect and plans to lead the division in the Emerald Grove once it is taken over. Return to the Emerald Grove to expose the woman.

Initiate a conversation with Kagha and choose the following:

  • “I know the truth. You want to give the grove over to the Shadow Circle.”
  • “Kagha is from the Shadow Circle. She wants to convert the entire circle here.”

During the conversation, the rats running around will transform into druids of the Shadow Circle led by Olodan.

After a brief argument, Olodan will order everyone in the grove, including you, to be burned. But you have the opportunity to decide the fate of the Archdruid of the Emerald Grove.

Negotiate

To persuade Kagha, you will need to pass two checks:

  • Persuasion (difficulty 15).
  • Religion (difficulty 10).

Interestingly, if you are playing as a druid or bard, unique dialogue options will appear.

Choose:

  • [Persuasion] “The shadows will not save you, they will only corrupt you. Stop while there is still time.”

Then choose between religion and persuasion:

  • [Religion] “I know the ways of these druids. Everything they touch withers and dies.”
  • [Persuasion] “You know I’m right. Don’t let the shadows corrupt you.”

If the checks are successful, Kagha will heed your words and join the fight against the Shadow Druids. The battle will be relatively simple, as all the druids inside will oppose the villains.

Talk to the woman after the battle. She will no longer attempt to expel the tieflings from the grove and wants to face judgment.

  • If Kagha comes to her senses but Arabella is killed, Halsin will still expel her from the Circle.
  • Only if you are a druid (and have not yet saved Halsin), Kagha will give you a special item — the “Pale Oak” Staff (in early versions “White Oak”) — the owner receives the “Guardian Vines” spell.
  • Kagha’s quest will fail if you save Halsin before finding the evidence, and he returns to the druid grove.
  • If you agreed to help Minthara, the goblins attacked the grove and killed everyone, the quest will also end prematurely.
  • If you do not interfere with the Shadow Druids’ ritual and leave, the grove will be covered with thorns upon your return and will forever be inaccessible, but Minthara will also be unable to attack it.

Kill

There are several moments when you can kill Kagha:

  • During Arabella’s punishment.
    • When she is about to execute Arabella. Choose the “Prepare to attack” action.
    • In this case, the other druids will come to Kagha’s aid, and they will consider it a rebellion, attempting to kill the tieflings in the grove as well.
  • Helping Zevlor.
    • If we offer Zevlor to get rid of Kagha, he will agree. The tiefling cannot enter the grove himself, so you will have to do all the dirty work.
    • Approach Kagha and say: “Zevlor wants to eliminate you. That’s why I’m here.”
    • In this case, the druids will also rush to the Archdruid’s aid, triggering a fight between them and the tieflings.
    • After victory, return to Zevlor and inform him that the Archdruid is dead.
  • During the exposure.
    • During the presentation of evidence of Kagha’s rebellion, choose the option: “You leave me no choice but to take your life. So be it.”
    • The same effect will occur if you fail any of the persuasion checks.
    • A fight with the Shadow Druids will start, with Kagha joining them.

After victory, you can take from the former Archdruid’s body:

  • The key — if you did not steal it earlier, to open the chest.
  • The unusual amulet “Broodmother’s Vengeance” — grants the “Poisonous Vengeance” ability.

Arabella’s Parents’ Revenge

You will witness a cutscene of Arabella’s parents’ revenge at the celebration in your camp in honor of the victory over the goblins.

  • Conditions:
    • Allowed Arabella to die from the snake bite.
    • Negotiated with Kagha and left her alive.
    • Saved the tieflings and druids from the goblins’ attack on the grove.
  • Arabella’s parents will paralyze Kagha by slipping something into her drink. The girl’s mother wants the druid to feel the same pain and fear that her daughter felt before her death.

You will have several options on how to proceed:

  • [Persuasion] “If you do this, you will become just like her.”
  • “It will only cause you more pain.”
  • “Cut her throat so she doesn’t call for help.”
  • “Quietly watch.”
  • “Leave.”

You can save Kagha if you successfully pass the persuasion check (difficulty 15). The other options will lead to her death.

If you convince Arabella’s parents, they will leave, leaving the former Archdruid lying paralyzed on the ground. Using a cleric (such as Shadowheart), you can cast the “Lesser Restoration” spell to cure her paralysis.

If you do this, talk to Kagha and she will be surprised that after everything, you still helped her.

You can also do without restoration; in this case, the paralysis will wear off after some time, and the woman will remain alive.
