As Soon as You Enter Act 3 in Baldur’s Gate 3
In Rivington, a girl named Jenna with her ginger cat runs up to you. She anxiously explains that her mother left to gather herbs but hasn’t returned for ten days. The girl will ask for help, and eventually for shelter. Should you agree to take her in or refuse? You may encounter a few surprises.
Should You Take Jenna to the Camp
After helping Jenna in Rivington with money or food (or not helping her at all), she will come to the camp with her ginger cat, Glutton, during your first night’s rest and ask to stay with you. The girl is no longer sure that her mother will ever return.
You can safely agree to let her stay, as there are no consequences.
Afterwards, Jenna cheerfully promises to cook food once she finds everything she needs. However, during the first encounter with Gortash, you will learn that there is an impostor in your camp, which is actually Orin the Red — one of the three leaders of the Absolute. Naturally, many initially suspect Jenna, as she is the only outsider in the camp.
In Baldur’s Gate 3, Jenna can also be driven out of the camp (choose the dialogue option “I told you. I’m serious.”), but only during the first conversation. However, she will still return if Orin the Red pretends to be the girl.
The Fate of Jenna
Stolen by Orin
There are several ways you might discover that Orin has taken Jenna’s guise in Baldur’s Gate 3:
-
The Long-Awaited “Feast”
Orin will likely kidnap the character from your camp with whom you’ve had the least interaction and who has no important active quests at the moment in Act 3. She often abducts Lae’zel, Minthara, Halsin, or Gale.
But if there are no other party members left in the camp (they are your companions at the time), Orin will take Jenna and pretend to be her.
When Orin kidnaps Jenna, you will see a cutscene during a long rest in the camp where the girl finally offers the promised meal. With a successful Wisdom check (difficulty 25), you will realize that the meat she cooked is actually the cat, Glutton.
Orin confirms this, still disguised as Jenna. Transforming back, she offers you a deal: kill Gortash to ensure the girl’s survival.
-
Encounter in the Sewers
The second scenario unfolds if you descend into the sewers of the Lower City. Once you do, a wounded Jenna will run up to you and claim that Orin attacked the camp and everyone needs to flee.
But this is actually Orin, disguised as the girl. She won’t keep up the charade for long and, just like in the first scenario, will demand that you kill Gortash in exchange for Jenna’s life.
In the Temple of Bhaal
If Orin takes Jenna, she can be found and rescued by following the quest “Save Orin’s Victim”. According to the quest, she will be in the Temple of Bhaal, which can be accessed via a series of quests through the sewers.
You can save Jenna from the clutches of Bhaal’s follower just like any other kidnapped victim. After a brief dialogue in the temple, she will return to the camp. If you decide to let the girl stay, she will start selling supplies.
If you fail to save the girl in the Temple of Bhaal, you can still speak with her corpse using the “Speak with Dead” spell.
Scene with Lae’zel
If Orin takes Lae’zel, a unique cutscene may occur where the githyanki starts accusing Jenna of being the duplicate that must be eliminated.
Only by passing two Persuasion or Intimidation checks can you save Jenna from Lae’zel’s clutches.
If you fail the checks, or do as Lae’zel says, the girl will die. In either case, Orin will reveal her true form and, as usual, offer to kill Gortash. It becomes clear that you will have to rescue Lae’zel from the Temple of Bhaal now.
Companions will respond differently to the child’s death:
- If nothing happens
- If Orin kidnapped your companion and left Jenna alone, nothing will happen with the girl. In a dialogue with her and Glutton, no new lines will appear.
